Corey Peters drive and determination cemented himself as one of the NFL’s most consistent and respected defensive linemen during his career, leaving a lasting impact on the league.

Despite early doubts about his athletic ceiling and role at the next level, Peters’ relentless work ethic and versatility as an interior defender set him apart on the field. A steady force against the run and an underrated pass rusher, Peters made his mark as a reliable anchor on the defensive line. He was a key contributor for every team he played on and became known for his toughness, leadership, and ability to show up in crucial moments.

Born and raised in Louisville, Peters attended Central High School, where he showcased not only his strength and power but also his character and leadership skills. Though he had flashes of dominance in high school, he wasn’t considered a blue-chip recruit, with some scouts questioning his burst and technique for elite college play. Determined to prove them wrong, Peters committed to the University of Kentucky, where he quickly became a standout. His ability to clog running lanes and apply pressure from the interior helped him earn the respect of coaches and teammates alike. He was named Second Team All-SEC his senior year.

Peters’ strong collegiate career led him to the NFL, where he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2010. Over the course of his career, Peters played for the Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, and Jacksonville Jaguars, building a reputation as a disciplined and durable lineman. Known for his strength at the point of attack, gap control, and leadership in the locker room, Peters was instrumental in helping stabilize defenses and leading younger players by example.

One of the high points of his career came in 2013, when he started all 15 games for the Falcons and posted a career-high in tackles and sacks, establishing himself as a force in the NFC South. His ability to stay resilient through injuries and consistently contribute made him one of the most dependable defensive tackles of his era.

After retiring from playing in the NFL, Peters took a position as a college scout with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
