About Kerry Rhodes

Kerry Rhodes is not only a successful athlete but a creator of entertainment. Whether acting in television roles, producing independent films, or running his own production company, he embraced the same drive and vision that fueled his NFL success.
Rhodes was raised in Bessemer, Alabama, by his mother Jubrella, who instilled in him a strong sense of discipline. A gifted athlete and student, he initially dreamed of becoming a basketball star, and he excelled on the hardwood throughout his youth. But it was on the football field that he ultimately found his calling.
In high school, Rhodes was a multi-sport standout, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. As the starting quarterback, he threw for 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior, earning All-State honors. The University of Louisville saw his potential, offering him the opportunity to join their football program as a defensive back.
Rhodes redshirted his first season in 2001 and soon transitioned to safety, where his instincts, speed, and intelligence quickly set him apart. As a sophomore, he started every game and led the team with six interceptions. By his senior year, he was named First-Team All-Conference USA and served as a team captain. His collegiate success and leadership caught the attention of NFL scouts, earning him an invitation to the 2005 NFL Draft.
Selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round, Rhodes wasted no time making an impression at the next level. In just his second season, he broke out as one of the league’s most dynamic safeties. In 2006, he recorded 99 tackles, five sacks, and four interceptions, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors. Known for his range in coverage and his ability to pressure quarterbacks, Rhodes quickly became a cornerstone of the Jets’ defense.
Throughout his six seasons with New York, Rhodes consistently produced, notching multiple 80+ tackle campaigns and 15 interceptions. In 2010, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he delivered one of his finest seasons—tallying four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 90 total tackles. His final NFL season came in 2012, a year in which Pro Football Focus ranked him as the fourth-best safety in the league.
Off the field, Rhodes earned recognition for his charisma, intelligence, and dedication to community service. While in the league, he was a frequent speaker at youth development programs and participated in numerous NFL community initiatives. Known for his leadership and voice beyond the game, Rhodes later channeled his talents into creative pursuits.
After retiring from football, he embarked on a second career in the entertainment industry, acting in television and film and producing independent projects. He also founded his own production company, continuing to tell impactful stories and support diverse voices in media. A man of many talents, Kerry Rhodes exemplifies the rare ability to thrive in multiple areas.
