Jason Dunn

A native of Burgin, Kentucky, Jason Dunn attended Harrodsburg High School, where he began to make his mark on the football field before continuing his career at Eastern Kentucky University.

Playing under legendary head coach Roy Kidd, Dunn developed into one of the program’s standout players and laid the foundation for his future success at the professional level. He arrived at Eastern Kentucky as a defensive end before making a transition to tight end, a move that helped unlock his professional potential leading to an 11-year NFL career.

During his career with the Colonels, he became one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s most versatile offensive weapons and helped lead EKU to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. Dunn was named to EKU’s All-Century Team in 2009 and was inducted into the Colonels Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.

His college performance earned him a second-round selection in the 1996 NFL Draft, when the Philadelphia Eagles chose him with the 54th overall pick. Dunn spent three seasons with the Eagles from 1996-1998. An injury forced him to miss the 1999 season, and he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2000.

While much of his Chiefs career coincided with future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez, Dunn carved out an important role as one of the league’s premier blocking tight ends. His physical style of play helped Kansas City field some of the NFL’s most productive rushing attacks during the early 2000s while also contributing as a reliable receiving option.

Over 11 NFL seasons, Dunn appeared in 162 games, recording 81 receptions for 910 yards and 11 touchdowns. His longevity, consistency, and willingness to do the demanding work often overlooked in the box score made him a valued teammate throughout his career.

Following his playing career, Dunn returned to Kentucky, where he dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring young athletes. After spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Lafayette High School in Lexington, he joined the staff at Kentucky State University, serving as the school's special teams coach for a decade.

In 2020, Dunn expanded his impact on the game by co-founding "Chiefs Concerns" alongside Marcus Dash and Eric Warfield. The podcast quickly became one of the most popular and widely followed shows throughout Chiefs Kingdom, providing fans with in-depth analysis and commentary on the Kansas City Chiefs.
