Jacob Tamme

Jacob Tamme became a standout athlete and respected leader in the NFL, known for his intelligence, consistency, and off-the-field impact.

A reliable tight end with exceptional football IQ and hands, Tamme was a key player for the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He was a first-team All-SEC selection and a finalist for the prestigious John Mackey Award, honoring the nation’s top tight end. During his college career, he tallied 133 receptions for 1,417 yards and 11 touchdowns, making him one of the most prolific tight ends in Kentucky history.

Tamme entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2008 NFL Draft. Joining a roster led by future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, he quickly proved his worth with his route-running ability, intelligence, and work ethic. His breakout season came in 2010, when he stepped into a starting role and recorded 67 receptions for 631 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tamme was a key contributor during the Colts’ deep playoff runs, including Super Bowl XLIV.

In 2012, Tamme reunited with Peyton Manning in Denver after signing with the Broncos. Over three seasons, he helped lead the team to multiple AFC Championship appearances and contributed to their high-powered offense.

On March 9, 2015, Tamme signed with the Atlanta Falcons, where he enjoyed a career resurgence. In his first season with Atlanta, he posted a career-high 657 receiving yards on 59 catches and one touchdown, becoming a valuable target for quarterback Matt Ryan. He played a vital leadership role in the locker room and helped mentor younger players before injuries eventually led to his retirement in 2017.

After retiring from football, Tamme transitioned to a meaningful and grounded life centered on family, faith, and community. He returned to his roots in Danville, Kentucky, where he and his wife Allison run a successful cattle farm, focusing on raising Angus cattle. Known for his humility and values, Tamme has embraced the agricultural lifestyle, blending hard work and stewardship with a passion for Kentucky’s farming heritage.

Tamme also remains active in public service and philanthropy. He has supported numerous charitable initiatives, including programs for pediatric healthcare, children’s literacy, and disaster relief. He has spoken at faith-based events and youth leadership forums, using his platform to inspire the next generation of athletes and leaders.
